I haven’t been this disappointed by a fast food item in a long time. I should have suspected that there was something amiss, as a taquito should be deep fried, not grilled. The Grilled Steak Taquito is really nothing more than a rolled-up Steak Quesadilla. The one I got seemed small, with not much meat. It looked nothing like the picture in the advertisement. You get your choice of sour cream, guacamole, or salsa to dip the taquito in. I got the sour cream, which didn’t taste very good but was perhaps the best part of the meal. It’s hard to go wrong at Taco Bell, but the Grilled Steak Taquito is one menu item that I recommend staying away from.

I found this Planters Trail Mix on sale at Albertson’s for only $1.00. I couldn’t pass up such a great deal, so I bought a few bags. It’s a unique combination of ingredients – honey roasted peanuts, yogurt flavored raisins, peanut brittle, cashews, pretzels, and caramel popcorn. Honestly, I didn’t think it would work. Surprisingly, it does. The peanut brittle pieces, which you normally don’t find in trail mix, are what really make it good. The rest of the ingredients are also very tasty. There are five other varieties of Planters Trail Mix, but I recommend trying Honey Nut & Caramel first.

Here’s yet another example of uninspired product development – take an existing product, change it a little, put it in different packaging, and call it new. It worked with Ritz Chips Cheddar, didn’t work with Cheese Nips Chips, and doesn’t work with new Wheat Thins Chips either. They only vaguely taste like Wheat Thins (which I love), and the “chip” format just doesn’t work with these multi-grain chips. Sure, they’re edible, but so are lots of other snacks. But that doesn’t mean you should spend your hard-earned money on them.
