Burger King Angus Steak Burger

angusburger.jpgBurger King’s Angus Steak Burger is an attempt by a fast food restaurant to make a more “upscale” burger. It’s a good attempt that falls short. The meat doesn’t really have much flavor, other than the distinct taste of pepper. I don’t know if someone just put too much pepper on the meat, or if it is supposed to taste that way, but I like it. The burger has what Burger King calls their “signature steak sauce,” but there is not much of it, so it’s hard to tell if it tastes good or not. The bun is OK, but really doesn’t do much to improve the burger. Overall, the Angus Steak Burger is marginally better than the other burgers on the BK menu, but is not nearly as good as they would have you believe.

Pepperidge Farm Cheddar Jack Goldfish Crisps

No-Image.jpgPepperidge Farm makes some great snack foods, so I had high expectations for the new Goldfish Crisps. They look like regular goldfish crackers (those little orange ones that have been around forever) that have been flattened. That is where the similarity to their smaller brothers ends. The flavor is bland, with a cheese flavor that reminds me of some low-end cheese crackers I have eaten. And, despite their name, they are not as crispy as I thought they would be. Edible, yes, but there are many other cheese crackers that I would rather eat instead.

Sprite ReMix Berryclear

sprite.jpg
A berry-flavored Sprite is a great idea, but the folks at Sprite missed the mark on this one. The packaging is very eye-catching, with the purple theme suggesting a strong berry flavor. Instead, the berry flavor is on the mild side. Also, the soda has a slightly artificial aftertaste. Sprite’s target market is the younger crowd (take a look at the Web site), but the flavor is something my grandma would enjoy. With a bolder berry flavor, this soda could be real good. Instead, it’s only so-so.

Reduced Sugar Trix Cereal

No-Image.jpgI love new Reduced Sugar Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal, and now I’ve had a chance to eat new Reduced Sugar Trix. General Mills has another hit with this cereal. By sweetening the cereal with Splenda No Calorie Sweetener, the cereal has 75% less sugar than regular Trix. With only 3 grams of sugar per serving, you can eat it by the handful if you want to. I actually did this, and it tastes great straight out of the box. It also tastes great with milk, so buy yourself a box and have a bowl for breakfast as soon as you can.

Kit Kat Triple Chocolate

kitkat.jpg
I found the Kit Kat Triple Chocolate candy bar at the local Kwik-E-Mart. As the name suggests, it is combination of chocolate wafers, chocolate creme, and milk chocolate. The original Kit Kat bar is one of my favorite candy bars, but I am happy to say that the Kit Kat Triple Chocolate is as tasty as the original. The three chocolate flavors complement each other very well, and the crispy wafers in the middle give it the crunch I love so much. The wrapper says that the Kit Kat Triple Chocolate is a “limited edition,” so get one while you can.
