I finally got around to buying a bag of Nabisco’s new Golden Oreos, and was not disappointed. The creme in the middle tastes the same as the creme used in the original Oreo cookie. The two golden-colored cookies surrounding the creme have a very good flavor that is surprisingly addictive – almost as addictive as original Oreos. The cookies were also delicious when dipped in milk, which is my preferred way of eating them. If you are a traditionalist and balk at the idea of a non-chocolate Oreo, it will be your loss. You’ll miss out on a great tasting cookie that can proudly sit beside original Oreos on the supermarket shelf.

Good blog. Congrats on being MetaFiltered.
Now, as for the "Golden Oreo", does anybody remember "Vienna Fingers"? I always liked that cookie in spite of its hopelessly vanilla image. This is essentially a reshaped and relaunched "Vienna Finger", but there's nothing wrong with that!
Posted by: wendell at July 9, 2004 11:22 AMooooops, sorry, I didn't find this on MetaFilter, I found it on MeFi's cute little sister MonkeyFilter.
Well, you didn't want to get too much traffic too soon, right?
(I'm so embarassed I may have to post it to MeFi myself)
Posted by: wendell at July 9, 2004 11:33 AMI just went to buy some cookies at the grocery store last night and i always have trouble deciding what i want from there, but not anymore!
this is the best idea since they made the chocolate oreos except these are better!!!!!!!
Yeah, the Golden Oreos were ok. Actually, the flavour was great, but they seem to not actually absorb any milk, which, IMHO, is a premonition of the downfall of a cookie. If they can figure out a way to fix this issue, though, I'd be very happy. Vanilla cookies rock.
Posted by: Amy at February 3, 2005 10:49 PMI love how simple and delicious these are. But, just for the record, the chocolate Uh-Oh Oreos are also extremely enjoyable.

Posted by: dwelel at February 9, 2009 5:23 PMI like these Golden Oreos a lot. I have been looking for Nabisco's Cameo cookies which have all but disappeared from the shelves--The golden Oreos are as close to them as I have tasted. PS Keebler Vienna Fingers are not even in the ball park.
Posted by: Kathy at March 8, 2009 8:00 PMI just want to say that these golden oreos are AMAZING! I really can't decide which oreo I like better!
I would also like to address Wendell's comment on these being reshaped vienna fingers. I was a moderate fan of vienna fingers, but could never come to terms with the fact that they were so hard, and wouldn't soak up milk when dipped. These are not just reshaped vienna fingers, but rather a drastic improvement, bringing the flavor of the vienna finger to an all time greatness that the vienna finger strived for, but could never achieve! Thank you Oreo, and damn you... for all the calories I'm going to have to find a way to burn off!
They now have double stuff golden oreos and they are AWESOME!! Totally melt in your mouth deliciousness. The best cookies I have had in a long time!

Posted by: Evang. K. Atkinson at February 3, 2010 5:54 AMI remember this cookie from Nabisco in the 1960's but it wasn't called an Oreo. I can't recall the name and I can't find it on the web. Any other oldtimers know the name?

Posted by: Bob Call at May 31, 2010 12:04 PMThe Golden Oreos taste nothing like Vienna Fingers, which are hard and have a very dry taste to me. These Oreos are much closer in taste to Cameos, which have been discontinued. I miss Cameos dearly. Golden Oreo's are the closest thing to Cameos that I've been able to find.
