Diet Pepsi Max

dietpepsimax.jpgA lot of new diet sodas have been introduced recently, and I really like many of them. This includes new Diet Pepsi Max. It is really good, right up their another of my favorites, Pepsi One. Labeled as "invigorating cola," Diet Pepsi Max has ginseng and 46 mg of caffeine per eight ounce serving. This is more caffeine than most other sodas, including Mountain Dew. The soda has a great taste is nothing like regular Diet Pepsi. It's so good, in fact, that I bet most people wouldn't be able to tell that it is a diet soda. If you are one that usually doesn't like diet sodas, you should give Diet Pepsi Max a try.

Amp Energy Drink

amp.jpgI think I've tried just about every energy drink on the market. There's nothing like a nice cold can of guarana, taurine, sugar, and most importantly, caffeine to get you through the rest of your day or night. About a year ago while I was testing all the energy drinks on the market to see which one was the best, I stumbled upon Amp. Most energy drinks have a harsh, bitter taste. However, Amp is the opposite. Unlike other energy drinks, it isn't tart and there's almost none of that energy drink flavor like the other brands. It tastes almost like Mountain. Dew. Which is what I expected, since Mountain Dew is the maker of Amp. I've found that since Amp isn't bitter like Rockstar or Monster, my stomach doesn't hate me in the long run.

Amp comes in two sizes and two flavors. The flavor I like most is "Overdrive," which is equivalent to Mountain Dews Code Red. I enjoy it so much I could almost drink it like any normal soda, but I have to sleep sooner or later. Also, with all that sugar and caffeine pumping through your body, you will probably crash when it wears off. So, like all energy drinks, if your are sensitive to caffeine, Amp is not for you.

The Philly Taco

phillytaco.jpgI saw a post on Slashfood (via Cho-Tabetai) about the Philly Taco. Just take a look at the picture – a Philly cheesesteak sandwich wrapped in a slice of pizza. An odd combination, perhaps, but I think it sounds delicious and if I’m ever in Philadelphia, I’m going to try one. I could probably put one together here in Sacramento, but then it would be a Sacramento Taco and that just doesn’t have the same appeal. The only thing I disagree with is the assertion that one would have to be intoxicated to make a Philly Taco. Not me, that's for sure.

Reese's Fast Break Candy Bar

fastbreak.jpgI'm a big fan of anything peanut butter. So the other day while I was looking for my next peanut butter fix, I stumbled upon Reese's Fast Break Candy Bar. I know its been around for awhile, and I'm not really sure why I haven't picked one up before. I thought it was going to be right up my alley. I mean, what could go wrong with what seemed like a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup in candy bar form? I now know why my instinct steered me away for so long. The first bite was pure heaven. Rich chocolate followed by that wonderful peanut buttery goodness. However, after my peanut butter nirvana faded away, I was left with a mouthful of chewy nougat. I'm not necessarily opposed to nougat in candy bars, but putting nougat in a candy bar where the other ingredients melt in your mouth... that's just not right.

Wendy’s Bacon Swiss Double Melt

wendys.jpgI know a few people that think Wendy’s is the best fast food out there, but I’ve never really been a fan. It had been a few years since I last ate there, so I recently decided to give them a try again. The Bacon Swiss Double Melt is the type of burger I should really love, but I was disappointed by it. The meat had little flavor, the bacon was too soggy, and the bun was inadequate to hold it all together. Those who are already fans of Wendy’s burgers will probably like it, but I advise those who prefer tastier hamburgers to look elsewhere.

Taco Bell Extreme Cheese & Beef Quesadilla

quesadilla.jpgI love cheese more then any other food known to man. On my most recent trip to Taco Bell I discovered the new Extreme Cheese and Beef Quesadilla. Normally I stay away from their quesadillas. It always seems like they add way too much “sauce.” So I was taking a bit of a chance by ordering their new variation of my favorite Mexican food. I was pleasantly surprised after the first bite. It had 3 types of cheese like any other quesadilla they offer, but to top it off it had nacho cheese! I'll eat just about anything if you add nacho cheese to it. I really love the simplicity of it. It's just 4 types of cheese, and beef folded into a tortilla. The best part is, it's only $1.29! So if you like soft tacos without the lettuce and with extra cheese, you'll love Taco Bell's new Extreme Cheese and Beef Quesadilla.

Jack In The Box Blackberry Shake

blackberryshake.jpgI recently stopped by a nearby Jack In The Box because I was craving a milkshake. Although I had planned on getting a strawberry shake (my favorite flavor...), I noticed a new item on the menu: the blackberry shake. Of course, I just had to try it. Not surprisingly, it was delicious. It had a great blackberry flavor and just the right creamy consistancy - not so thick that you can't suck it through a straw, and not to thin either. The whipped cream and cherry on the top were a nich touch. Overall, it was superb. I don't ever remember seeing a blackberry-flavored shake at a fast food place, so Jack In Box gets extra points for doing something a bit different.
