Dr. Pepper has introduced a new flavor combination that combines two of my favorite flavors. Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper is available in both regular and diet varieties, but I’ve only seen the diet variety in my area. That’s OK, because I only drink diet sodas anyway (I’ve got to watch my calories, you know…). Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper has a great taste, with both the vanilla and cherry flavors clearly discernable on top of the familiar Dr. Pepper flavor. The vanilla and cherry flavors minimize the typical diet aftertaste, making it one of the best tasting diet sodas out there. Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper is highly recommended for diet soda drinkers, and even those who don’t care for diet sodas will probably enjoy it.

Have you noticed how Tater Tots have gotten smaller over the years? I remember them being much larger when I ate them as a kid. Anyway, these new Ore-Ida Crispy Tater Tots are good, but they don’t seem any crispier then normal. I ate them plain, with ketchup, and covered in chili. Each way, they tasted pretty much the same as the regular variety. If you think Ore-Ida has discovered something new and great to do with a Tater Tot, think again.

My brother, who lives in NYC, recently gave me a selection of Utz snacks. Utz products are only distributed on the Mid-Atlantic Coast, so I had never heard of them. The Bar-B-Q potato chips have a light BBQ flavor that has a nice sweetness. I found them to be better than most BBQ chips I’ve eaten. The Cheese Balls are also very tasty, with a light texture and good cheese flavor. My favorite, however, are the Cheesier Nacho tortilla chips. They have a very good nacho flavor and a great texture that really makes them stand out. Overall, I’m impressed. On my next trip to the East Coast, I’ll be sure to try more Utz products.

This new candy bar from Hershey’s has pretzels, caramel, peanuts, peanut butter, and milk chocolate. I really didn’t think that it would work with such a variety of ingredients. And who really wants pretzels in their candy bar? But, I was wrong. The candy bar is good and the flavors mix together well. The pretzels give it a nice crunch, and the salty flavor goes well with the sweet. It won’t take the place of my favorite candy bar (Baby Ruth), but the Take 5 is pretty good.
