Cheez-It Pepper Jack

cheezitpj.jpgIf you don’t already know, I am a diagnosed Cheez-It addict who is unable to control his Cheez-It consumption despite the risk of health problems and negative social consequences. So naturally, I get excited when there is a new flavor of Cheez-It. Cheez-It Pepper Jack is a new addition to the Cheez-It family of crackers that appeared on my grocer’s shelves recently. I avoided buying a box initially because pepper jack is one of my least favorite types of cheese. I’m not really sure why I don’t like it, but assume it’s because there are tiny flecks of vegetables in there. After a few weeks, I just couldn’t resist trying them and bought a box (on sale, of course). My initial impression was that they tasted very similar to regular Cheez-Its. Then slowly, the flavor of the peppers started to appear. The crackers don’t have a lot of heat but the jalapeño flavor is definitely noticeable. The overall flavor is well-balanced between the cheese and peppers, with a pleasant aftertaste that lingers long after you are done eating them. The more of the crackers I ate, the more I liked them. Cheez-It Pepper Jack is a solid addition to the Cheez-It family and should appeal to many people, including other Cheez-It addicts.

i wouldnt give this product a good rating. baking the flavor into the cracker isnt a good idea. I prefer the White Cheddar cheez-its with the powder flavoring.

I was disappointed

The baked in flavor is awesome. My complaint with the white cheddar is the powder left on your hands. I love the slow heat of the peppers. It is subtle, but makes the new flavor awesome!

yup, just bought a box yesterday evening. pepper jack's my favorite cheese (however, my favorite overall snack food is just regular cheez-its, and white cheddar is fantastic too). they spot-on captured the cool initial onset of the jack cheese, with the sweet jalapeno aftertaste. so freakin delicious. yay!!

it's funny, i bought some of the "big" cheez-its the other day and was looking at the different flavors on the back of the box. the hot and spicy caught my eye (also pretty good), and that's why i was headed to the store yesterday. but i remember distinctly thinking, "they should have a pepper jack flavor, that'd be awesome" as the box i had didn't have the new pepper jack listed on it. and sure enough, they did indeed expand their offerings just recently!

i'm ecstatic. i probably shouldn't be. the world's a dark and dangerous place to live these days. but there are pepper jack cheez-its in existence. the government's ultimate control mechanism, i'm sure...!!

Tried them a week ago. Liked them. Neat to see how it has real pepper bits in it, instead of bland artifical flavourings.
