Pizza Hut “Pizza Mia”

pizzamia.jpgPizza, like hamburgers and French fries, is one of the foods that define American cuisine. Its versatility has allowed various recipes and ingenious, not to mention delicious, creations (think California Pizza Kitchen's "BBQ Chicken Pizza). Even so, there remain several name brands that are practically symbols of this dish: Pizza Hut, Papa John's, California Pizza Kitchen, and Dominoes are just a few of the many. And it is upsetting to see these emblems of quality become shorthand for deception. Just released at Pizza Hut is a selection of pizzas titled "Pizza Mia," claiming to be made from "whole milk mozzarella cheese with a hint of cheddar, and vine-ripened California tomatoes." Its also unreasonably affordable: "just $5 every day when you order 3 or more 1-topping mediums!" Despite the hyperbolic diction and the succulent pictures, this line of pizzas lacks even the essentials: a fulfilling amount of cheese and topping, a flavorful crust, and a pleasing texture. In short, it is no less than blasphemy, an ungodly take on the American dish. Its is reminiscent of the five dollar pizzas sold by Little Caesars, which too are rather sparse, but the way Pizza Hut shamelessly promoted theirs leaves a bitter taste in anyone's mouth. Alas, it may be affordable, but so are promotional offers and pizzas elsewhere, and it is there you should find your deliciously cheap pizza.

Yes, the toppings are more sparse, but the essence is a pizza hut pizza and you can't argue with the price per ounce. A lot of people have given this a thumbs down, but I still pick them up for parties and have yet to receive a complaint.

I completely agree, it's the worst pizza ever. It taste like its been frozen for weeks. Has no flavor and weird-tasting sauce. For the first time ever, i wasnt able to finish a slice of pizza. However my kids LOVE it. So whatever.

we seem to disagree on pizza. i thought it was one of pizza hut's best creations so far because i only like hand tossed crust. i'm not a big fan of the thin crust or the deep dish pizzas.

also any time i order a pizza i do it online so i can say "extra cheese" (which i never do) or "extra sauce" (which i always do) and it doesn't charge me any extra.

I agree. This pizza was disgusting. The worst part about it was the expectation. It did and still does look so good in the commercials.

It looks really good in the commercials. It really gives Pizza Hut a bad name. What do you get? Dough with tomato sauce-mine did not even
have any cheese.... oh and about 3 pieces of hamburger meat on each slice-for $15 so not worth it......

They're really nice for sleepovers, regardless of whether you like them or not.
You give your children the money they need, and they're satisfied with the AMOUNT of pizza they get.
That's the only reason I have ever bought Pizza Mia.

I really love Pizza Hut's Pizza Mia. It has ultra
cheese and sauce. I will give thumbs up for that.

I work at pizza hut and the mixture of a sweeter sauce, blended cheese and all natural toppings. the pizza mia may be lightly topped but for 5$ that is a good price for the quality of pizza hut

I've actually ordered these quite frequently, as I work no more than 100 yards from a Pizza Hut, and it's the most cost effective take-out around. There have been occasions in which they were poorly made, but I'd say that was maybe twice in the roughly twenty times I've ordered them. Normally, they are extremely good. I have no complaints.

I think, quite honestly, that the people working in certain chain locations make less of an effort, and are probably hired and fired quite frequently as a result. Better Pizza Huts will have better Pizza Mias. Simple enough.
