Oreo Cakesters

oreocakesters.jpgThe Oreo cookie sandwich is one of those classics that never goes out of style. Whether with milk or alone, Oreos are a perfect little snack. One impressive thing they have managed to do over time is come up with innovative new varieties and flavors that keep their product fresh and interesting, or, in the case of Double-Stuf Oreos, twice as good as the original. Their most recent addition to the snack industry is called the Oreo Cakester. Instead of a hard chocolate cookie, the Cakester consists of two chocolate cake-like pieces sandwiching the same Oreo filling people have loved for almost a century. The Cakesters are more like a pastry than a cookie and aren’t packaged in a sleeve like traditional Oreos, but in wrapped pairs. They managed to pull off the cake-like taste with some effectiveness, however, the rich chocolate flavor attacks your taste buds with little room left for the cream filling, which offsets the balance of chocolate and cream that we’re used to. This can be annoying for those of us who lick the cream off and throw away the cookie pieces, but if you enjoy chocolate pastries or other Oreo products, I recommend you give the Cakesters a try. Just be sure you try them with an open mind (and mouth).

I've already tried both Oreo Cakesters, (the regular ones, plus the double chocolate cakesters) and in my opinion, neither is worth paying $2.50 for each box. ( I purchased the cakesters at Walmart. ) Also, I couldn't believe how small in size these were. Needless to say, I will never buy these again. I'd rather buy the Double Stuff Oreos, but only when they're on sale.

All I have to say, is that you can't go wrong if it says OREO on the package.

What is the saturated fat on these? Do they still contain palm oil?

These actually remind me of one of my favorite snacks in elementary school. They were called Yo-yo's made by Little Deby, I think. I liked them better, though, they were bigger...or maybe I was just smaller.
