Pringles Select Parmesan Garlic

pringlesselect.jpgI love Pringles potato chips (who doesn't???), so I was very interested in the new Pringles Select chips that I found recently at the local Wal-Mart. They come in several different flavors - Sun Dried Tomato, Cinnamon Sweet Potato, Szechuan Barbecue, and Parmesan Garlic. I bought a bag of the Parmesan Garlic variety, as they looked the most promising. Wow, was I wrong. Pringles touts them as being "gourmet" and just from the name, I expected an improved, more refined chip. Instead, the Pringle Select chips are smaller, thicker, and heavier tasting that the traditional Pringles I'm used to. I can describe the flavor only as being altogether ordinary and boring. There's nothing gourmet about them, in my opinion. I'll stick with the regular Pringles.

I tried the Parmesan and Sun Dried Tomato flavors, and didn't care for them, but then I tried the Szechwan Barbecue flavor. Those are SO much better than the others, and now they rank right up there with Nacho Cheese Doritos as one of my favorites! No kidding!

I don't know, I really liked the texture of the 'Gourmet' chips.

Sorry to hear that you didn't like them. Both Parmesan and Garlic are very strong flavors, and aren't a commonly pleasant taste for most people. Actually the Garlic flavor really is quite light in this chip, but the Parmesan can be tasted very strong. I'm betting you don't like Parmesan cheese in general, because if you did you would probably like these chips. Parmesan & Garlic are pretty much signatures of Italy, and if you like Italian foods and/or spices you should like this chip also.
