Hardee’s Monster Thickburger

thickburger.jpgLiving in California has its advantages, but right now I wish I lived in one of the states Hardee’s operates in. That’s because they have just introduced their Monster Thickburger. I can’t eat one (Yahoo! Maps says I’m 1173.6 miles from the closest Hardee’s), but just looking at a picture is enough to make me drool like Homer Simpson craving a donut. This burger is made with two one-third pound patties of Angus beef, four strips of bacon, three slices of cheese and mayonnaise on a buttered sesame seed bun. It has 1,420 calories and 107 grams of fat. Is it good? With those ingredients, how could it not be good? Yes, it’s a heart attack waiting to happen. Yes, it would probably be illegal in many countries. But for fast food burger lovers like me, it’s like a dream come true.

If any readers have the opportunity to eat one of these burger, please e-mail me and let me know how it is. Until then, I just have to give it Phoood’s highest rating.

Phoood rating: Outstanding!

That thing is truly frightening! Being in CT I am quite a distance from a Hardee's as well though I'm not sure I could eat it all! ...maybe half!

I've had the origional Monster about 4 years ago, looked like the one pictured. Juciest, yummyiest burger ever. Not sure how one would go about eating it all, i never could.

I've not tried this beast, it frightens me as well. I have tried the regular monster burger on several occasions and it's absolutely delightful. Maybe someday after a long bikeride I will be able to stomach this brute.

1173 miles from a Hardee's? Consider yourself lucky.

This burger is everything you are imagining it to be. I am not some one who particularly likes fast food, but I love burgers. This one is the best. I had the original was blown away, but now that they have gone to the Angus Beef it is simply incredible. Bacon, mayo, cheese, 2 burgers then more bacon and cheese, c'mon who wouldn't love this thing. Yes, by the way, I did eat it all (several times).

Its alright but you wont finish it all unless you are major hungry and havent had anything to eat in a week!!!! Well I was super hungry but I ate most of it except maybe the last piece of bread!!

I've had the single patty variant of this recently and it's very good. Before they switched to the Angus beef and took a different approach to their food, I couldn't stand Hardee's. One of these burgers on the way home from a concert really hit the spot, so I'm sure the Monster is just twice as good.

I needed a fork and knife and couldn't eat half of it,but it sure was good.

Those who eat this sandwich on a regular basis must opt out of medicare in the later stages of life.

Granted it is good, but it is so wrong on many different levels.

I live in a town where Hardees is the only thing open late at night, I get the crispy chicken sandwich they offer and it is one of the best around.

Wow,there is so much in this burger it looks like it is overflowing. I would like to try one but there is no way I'd be able to finish it. Maybe quarter of it... It's making my mouth water...

I'm fairly certain that Hardee's and Carl's Jr. are the same restaurant. So ordering and double bacon & cheese Six Dollar burger ought to give you the same cholesterol thrill.

It's an excessive guilty pleasure. I'd enjoy it a lot more if the bun didn't fall apart from all the grease and mayo soakage, though. If they went a little lighter on the mayo and cheese, the burger might stay together better. As it is, you pretty much have to just cut it in half and pray it doesn't become a formless pile of beef, bacon, cheese, and mayo.

Nice blog! Only just found it today, shame on me. Great fun to read about all those burgers and FF chains you have in the US that Holland doesn't have. Seriously though: breakfast bugers? 1400 calorie burgers? That's pretty insane. Not a real reason to forbid a food item, though.

I am sorry i ran across this and just had to put my 2 cents in. I work about 2 miles from a Hardees and a co-worker and i have one of these about once a month. I would have a couple a week but will not let myself. Once i start eating one i cant stop until it is gone and then i am hurting the rest of the day. This is simply the finest burger i have ever eaten always consistent with crispy bacon and just the right amount of mayo. The Angus beef just does it. Go find a Hardees, NOW GO

Hardee's and Carl's Jr. are the same chain, just different names in different regions. I have eaten at both and the food is the same. You have to translate the names of the items and some are not available in both restaurants. Chesk out the websites.
