Carl's Jr. Big Carl
No matter what you think about Carl’s Jr.’s food or jejune television ads, you almost have to admire the company for their aggressive approach and continued willingness to introduce new products to their menu. Their latest burger is a direct attack against McDonald’s iconic Big Mac. The Big Carl seeks to improve on the Big Mac by offering a double-patty burger with twice as much meat and cheese at a lower price point. The Big Carl even has a “special sauce” like the Big Mac. However, the Big Carl doesn’t include the Big Mac’s center bun. The Big Carl is a very tasty burger and a bargain at only $2.49 considering the amount of meat it has. It's a respectable double cheeseburger that I would definitely order again. Is it better than the Big Mac? I honestly can’t say because it’s probably been several decades since I last ate a Big Mac. But I’m pretty sure that if I had both burgers in front of me, I would reach for the Big Carl first.

I love the big carl. It's on $1.99 at the Carl's Jr by my house compared to the Big Mac $4.50. I don't miss the third bun with the extra meat on this one. Is it just me or did the Macs used to be huge when you was a kid?

I guess that's what you think when you look at fake food on a commercial. You guy's need good tasting food like Oregano's.

Posted by: John Hicks at November 7, 2009 1:02 AMWhen i first tried the big carl i had overheard my friends saying how they tried it and it sucked. well i disagree i think it is WAY better than the big mac i mean it bigger has twice the meat. 900 calories but still a great burger. i've always loved carl's jr. and all their amazing food but this is the best burgers i've tasted.
Scale of 1-10 its definitly a 10
one last thing... twice the meat, less cash lah lah lah lah lah.

The only thing I didn't like about it was that both times, I got a bit too much lettuce on them, and that amount kind of detracted from the flavor of the meat and sauce. Aside from that, it nearly dethroned the western bacon cheeseburger (hold the onion rings) as my favorite.

Tons of meat and cheese, it is just a simple great burger. i think it is way better than the Big Mac and on the same level as the Whopper. Considering the cost the Big Carl is very good value.

Posted by: Jon at December 7, 2009 1:00 PMMy son was eating the Big Carl once or twice a day. He's 21 and burns those 920 calories a lot faster than I. So finally last week I tried it and it was not just good but it was Very Good!! At 1.99 he is keeping the Carl's restaurants in my area in business. He was getting a couple of the McD's double cheeseburgers with Mac sauce only, then all of their restaurants started charging extra for the Mac sauce. At Carl's the patties are bigger, the price is right and the sauce is free.

The Carls Jr. Big Carl is not only an outstanding burger it lives up to the definition of Big! It tastes better it is very filling and in my opinon rules the Burger world of Fast Food. McDonalds has lost my business and my two sons.
