Diet Mountain Dew UltraViolet

mdultraviolet.jpgSome soft drinks have diet versions that taste pretty good, others are just okay, and some are nearly undrinkable. Mountain Dew is one those that does not translate well into a diet version. The problem with Diet Mountain Dew is that it has a nasty, artificial tasting sweetness to it. Diet Mountain Dew UltraViolet is no exception. Although UltraViolet has a very pleasant mixed berry flavor, the berry flavor is not enough to overcome the artificial sweetness. There are better diet soft drinks out there, so I recommend staying away from this one. Diet Mountain Dew UltraViolet is a limited edition drink and will only be available for a short time. So, if you think I may be wrong and want to try one for yourself, you better hurry and get one while you can.

Although the wife doesn't drink diet dew, she classified this one as "cough syrup".

Diet Mt Dew is the ONLY diet soda that DOES NOT have the nasty, diet taste..If you want nasty, try diet PEPSI or COKE.I will only drink these horrible tasting sodas if there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ELSE. Diet Mt Dew is the ONLY diet soda as far as I am concerned. And I know lots of other folks who feel the same. One lady in my office said that she would walk through a foot of snow, ice, hail, rain, and the dark of night to get a Diet Mt Dew if she happened to deplete her supply.

I'm with Becky on this one. Diet Mt. Dew is one of the few diet drinks that I'll bother with. I haven't tried this new, UltraViolet flavor, so I'll take your word for it. As far as I'm concerned, Diet Sprite is the god of all diet drinks.

UltraViolet rocks - I drink a lot of diet drinks (why get calories in a drink?!) and was excited to see a new mountain dew flavor, especially one that was available exclusively in diet form.

I'm addicted, going to stock up while it's available.

I disagree... I LOVE this drink. I actually hate diet drinks (even regular diet Mt. Dew) but I was needing to find a different drink instead of regular sodas and I was tired of plain water so I seen the diet ultra violet and deceided to give it a try.. I fell in love the minute I tasted it cause it covered up the nasty diet taste. I didn't know at the time it was a limited edition drink or I would have never tried it cause now I am addicted to it and I am gonna be sad to see it gone. Which is why I am stock piling it :-) So my opinion is try it before you judge it cause everyone has different tastes. Or maybe I should say don't try it since they are about to stop making it. ;-)

I just recently tried the Mt. Dew Ultraviolet and I LOVE it!!! I'm sad that it is limited. I need to find out where to buy it so I can stock up also..

It's kind of gnarly but I love it anyway -- although it has to be on ice. Straight it's a little too sickly, but pour it over ice and get it good and cold, and it's neat.

Also, when you pour it, the fizz is BLUE on the violet drink. Kind of amazing from a food-technology perspective.
