Carl's Jr. Charbroiled BBQ Chicken Sandwich

bbqchicken.jpgI have decided to lose my belly and muscle up. So I have become concerned with calories and fat grams and such. I know, I know...What am I doing at a fast-food place when I want to eat healthy? Well, I live in the real world, and sometimes you go out to eat. So I am going to learn to deal with that. According to the "Don't Eat This, Eat That" website, Carl's Jr's Charbroiled BBQ Chicken Sandwich is the healthiest sandwich on their menu, from a calories and fat point of view. I decided to try one instead of my usual Super Star or specialty burger. It looked pretty good upon unwrapping, but that was an illusion. The bun was one of those "faux" whole wheat buns, and was very dry and chewy. The chicken breast had no flavor at all, not even a bit of "charbroil" taste. The BBQ sauce was disappointing, all I could taste was a bit of sourness. All in all, it was another failed attempt by a fast-food place to create a "healthy choice" that is also a tasty choice. I don't understand how these companies can have "food designers" receiving six-figure salaries to come up with new ideas, and yet they can't come up with a sandwich that is healthy and tastes good. I'll stick to my regular burgers from now on, and make up for it on other meals. On a positive note, Carl's Jr. has brought back the Teriyaki Burger, at least for a while, so I'll forgive them for their BBQ chicken sandwich.

Weird. I love this sandwich at Carl's and I get it all the time! In fact I actually disagree with almost everything in your review (which is unusual, I love your reviews.) I think the whole wheat bun kind of disappears when you bite into the sandwich, which I love because I'm not a huge bread fan. The "charbroiled" flavor is quite tasty and I love the BBQ sauce! I would encourage peeps to try it for themselves... I think it is fantastic!

Couldn't disagree more with most of the articles points. Like the poster before me, this is one of my favorite menu items at Carls Jr. Its a consistently good sandwich with big flavor. One of these and a a side of criss cuts is good eats.

A nice chicken sandwich. Enough said on that.
Now, how about reviewing Carl's Catch? Really what I am saying is...bring the Original Carl's Catch BACK.
Happy Stars. Old Time Stars. And the fries that we're in use BEFORE July 9, 2 0 0 8! I'm red NOT because of blushing...I'm red because I'm A N G R Y.

I've never had one of these sandwiches when sober, but I used to get this one and the Santa Fe chicken sandwich back when I was younger and ended the night at CJs when I'd had too much to drink. The bun always tasted strange - although never bad. Just weird.

I second Harold on bringing back the old fries. The ones they serve now are lousy.

Carls Jr. (CJ) just like any other fast food place is hit and miss. Maybe the problem wasn't the sandwich, maybe the problem is the that specific restaurant. Sometimes you can go to a CJs and the food will taste great another time you can go to another CJ's in a different part of town, ordering the same thing and YUCK!

I will send you my review on the CJ fish sandwich.

I ironically ended up pn your site by searching for the nutrition information on this sandwich. I like you (whenever this was printed) am currently watching my weight and what I eat. I also feel bad in my first post being contradictory to your opinion. I love this sandwich I order it everytime I go and find it to be moist and delicious. It has excellent flavor in both is charbroiledness as well as in the tangy bar b que sauce. I would encourage you to give it another shot! Its one of my favorite things there.

I somewhat agree, i think this is a solid sandwich if your looking for a quick, filling, healthy choice. I'm waiting for your review of the new Big Carl, the commercial is awesome taking on the Big Mac.

I agree with everyone here....I love this sandwich! Try the bacon club if you dont like the bbq sause. Nothing beats a big ol' sloppy Big Mac though....

I dont know what your talking about. I'm eating it right now and it tastes great!

All in all, Carls jr. doesn't cater to healthy. They cater to Construction workers who need the energy after lunch.. lol.
