I tried these last summer when they were trying them out and was sorely disappointed. They have skins on but don't have the flavor that warrants the name "natural cut". If they were natural cut, they'd look and taste like In N Out's fries. But then the regular fries came back and everything was fine, but this past Tuesday I went to Carl's on my lunch break and lo and behold these buggers are back and sadly, to stay. I have to say, though I love their crisscut fries, I don't know how often I will return to Carl's Jr if these crappy fries are lurking about. :( sadface.

These taste just like Jack in the Box fries. They're not bad, but if I wanted Jack in the Box fries I'd goto there. Bring back the old fries Carls.

carl's jrs fries do taste ike jack n the box fries but better. i don't like them tho i liked thr original ones...the original carls jr fries were so much better!

These fries are excellent. Way better than the old ones and way better than Jack in the Box fries. I'm glad they changed the fries and I'm glad their here to stay.

HATE the new "natural cut" fries. Love eating the skins on my potatos, but these new fries suck. They suck so much that the chili and cheese for chili fries cannot disguise how much the fries suck. Even my beloved double western bacon cheeseburger....I cannot bring myself to visit Carls now because of the crappy fries.

Thank God Del Taco still makes good fries. They apparently will now get my exclusive fast food business.

This makes me so angry! Carl's Jr. Had THE BEST FRIES after McDonalds and now a stupid competition between them and yucky Jack in the Box has forced them to make a very stupid decision to switch to these. I'm so disappointed.

I'm not a fan of fast food. I WAS, however, a fan of the OLD Carl's Jr. french fries. In fact, Carl's Jr. was THE ONLY fast food location I'd actually eat every now and again. My daughter's LOVED getting a special treat of french fries on special occassions. To my dismay, the last time we stopped in for a bite, their delicious fries had been changed to "natural cut" fries. DISGUSTING!!!! My daughters wouldn't eat them ... I thought they were atrocious ... even my husband (adorer of all things fast food) thought they were sub-par. When we asked the manager what had happened, she literally told us that these fries "stayed warmer longer" and were a better financial decision for the company. We couldn't believe that she confessed that the company wanted fries that would stay under their warmer longer. Oh my ... admitting to the customer that sub-par food that lasts longer under warmers wins out over fresh, quality product. Well, needless to say, we are no longer customer's of that famous star. Bring back the REAL Carl's Jr. french fries, then we'll talk.

new fries are a huge let down from the old. clever add on the box, but funny comments don't make them taste better. in fact it's high time to bring on a chicken teriyaki & pineapple six dollar burger. why i'm still waiting for that and a prime rib burger snuck out instead, i just don't get it

I recently had the displeasure of trying Carl's new fries. They ruined my meal. Thinking maybe I had just received a bad batch or that my taste may have been off that night, I tried them again from a different location on a different day. Well, at least they were consistent - consistently bad. I may not return to Carl's until this is corrected. If I do I'll make a second stop at McDonalds for fries.

My wife just woke me up from my nap to have lunch, and to my surprise, she had my usual favorite meal from Carl's Jr. A double western with an order of regular fries. As I eat my burger, every thing's cool till I pop one those so called natural cut fries into my mouth! These Natural Fries bite the big one. I can't stand them. This is the SECOND time that Carl's has changed fries and it's always for the worse. Does anyone remember those awesome crinkle cut fries they had from the 80s? I got used to the new fries and grew to like them a lot. In the world where Jack In The Box and Burger King both changed their fries for the worse, Carl's was a nice treat. But I will NOT be eating there again until the old ones are brought back.

I went to Carl's today and forgot to order criss-cut fries with my combo. I never liked the old fries (too skinny and not much flavor, IMO). These new fries actually have some flavor and taste like potatoes. The container was not well filled, but that is my only complaint. I'll still go back to the criss-cut fries, But they're definitely an improvement.

Carl's Jr. was the foundation and home to my greatest friendship. Then one night, as usual, we go to get some burgers and fries, only to look into the bag and find some impostor french fries. Wow, I'm glad I'm not the only one who's disappointed by these new fries. I tried them when they were introduced earlier this year, and thought they lacked flavor. I instantly missed the old shoestring fries.

I will admit that though I've been eating Carl's Jr. food for as long as I can remember (I was born in 1970, yay!), I really have no memory of the older crinkle cut fries. But I have always loved their shoestring fries. I hope they bring them back. Maybe as a third choice.

In my are area of the country, these fries we're introduced July 9, 2008. After 30 years plus of loyal 4 times a week visits, I haven't been back since that date. Little by little, Carl's is chasing away old business. Can't get an Old Time Star. Can't get and Happy Stars. And, they can't get any of my hard earned cash anymore...

I think these naturally cut fries are great! Large, meaty, crispy. To me it's a major upgrade to their old fries made from leftover potato flakes; which get stale within minutes. Please keep the new fries!!

The old fries were really good. I was very disappointed to see they changed them. Carl's Jr. and Mcdonalds were the only fast food places left with skinny fries. Jack in the Box also recently changed to these natural cut fries which I don't like at all. Also, what happened to the sourdough cheeseburgers? They were my favorite and I haven't gone to Carl's Jr. that much since they got rid of them. Now the fries...I'll be visiting even less now. Please bring back the old fries and the sourdough burgers!!!

I visited a few different locations when the new fries came out, wishing that perhaps one might still be selling the old shoe string fries. But, alas, they were all the nasty new spuds.
I went so far as to call the Customer Service line and complain.
Come on Carls, you had a great thing going with the old fries. Why can we still have them as an option? Natural fries, or Regular fries? Why didnt you use the same spud that was in the old fries, but just with skin?

I still visit Carls a few times a week. But I dont order any fries now with my meal.

I've stopped ordering the combo because of this. I just get a burger and buy a coke at 7/11 across the street to avoid paying more for not purchasing a combo. These new fries are just too horrible and don't taste good with my burger. Shame on you Carls, for doing this to your customers.

Tried the new natural cut fries when they first came out (twice) and they sucked. I haven't gone back to Carl's since but keep checking their website in hopes this big mistake will be rectified.

I agree with the majority of the reviews here. The new fries are a major let down. For a while I stopped eating at carl's but now I live in an area where carls and mickey d's are right next to one another so I stop at both and make my own combo. the new shakes are'nt as good as the one's from the eighties either.

I disagree with the majority of people posting comments. I think if you were a lover of Carl's old fries, you may not like the new Natural fries. I, on the other hand, never was a fan of the old fries so I always ordered Criss-cut fries. Well, today I thought I'd try regular fries for a change, not knowing that they'd changed their regular fries. At first glance, it seemed like I did not receive that many fries. Then I noticed the fries were actually long pieces of potato instead of a bunch of little fries stuck into a container so I wasn't getting gyped. Still, I didn't really notice the fries were any different until I tried them. I thought they were really good; a great improvement over their previous fries. They are crispy and not overly greasy or salty. Now I'll be satisfied with ordering a regular combo meal instead of a combo with criss-cut fries substituted. I mainly go to Carl's for their Western Bacon Cheeseburgers, but I liked the fries enough to research when they changed over...how I found this board.

These new fries suck. Because of these I no longer large-size my combo. They're too big and they taste grainy. Too bad they suck so much that they got rid of their old, delicious fries.

If they would just sell fries and then sell these other things under some other name, I'd be happy. How about they call them something like "Crispy textured potato food sticks" or something?

Well , I really hate those "natural cut" fries.So Its been about 2 years without buying any fries from Carls at all. I'm forced to go where there is A Carl's and a Mcdonalds next to each other and buy my hamburger from Carls and then go to Macdonalds to get my fries!!! I dont even get soda from Carsl either. Carl's Jr was perfect but now I barely go there , I rather go to a local restaurant to buy brgers. Why Carls Jr , Why!! Also I heard some really good news from JAck in the box, I think they will be making "Macdonald's Style" fries now. If so, Jack will be my next option , although their burgers are not that good.
