Carl's Jr. Prime Rib Burger

primeribburger.jpgI went to Carl's Jr. today with my wife and daughter for lunch. We see a big sign "The New Prime Rib Burger!" It looked absolutely delicious in the picture! My wife and I both ordered one. It's a burger, of course, topped with thinly sliced (a la Arby's) Prime Rib, Grilled Onions, Swiss cheese, and Horseradish sauce, all on a ciabatta bun. I bit into it, and was immediately disappointed. The sandwich was very bland, almost tasteless. The ciabatta bread was so "bready" that it overpowered everything else. The Horseradish sauce was so mild it might as well have been mayonnaise. I could not taste the grilled onions at all. I had mine without cheese, but my wife, who loves cheese, disliked this burger as much as I did. Sorry Carl's, but this one's got to go.

There's not a Carls around here for miles & miles, however the more I hear about their new products, the less I crave them.

Nothing can top the Bacon Western Cheeseburger. If the rest of the menu was discontinued, I'd never notice.

My Daughter absolutely loves the Western Bacon Cheeseburger! I like Carl's Jr's Teriyaki burger the best out of all their burgers.
My wife wants them to bring back their Philly Cheese Steak Burger. She actually chewed out the Manager of a local Carl's Jr when he told her it had been canceled. She was mad for hours!!

my experience with this burger was very similar. You can check out my review of the burger at www.griffineatsoc.com

I was curious about this since I somewhat liked the pastrami burger. I but the idea of Chiabatta bread makes it less appetizing. Why do these fast food chains use the toughest bread in the world for their burgers? (Although the Chiabatta on Wendy's Sandwhiches I.E the Chicken Salad that they had was probably the best I've had at any fast food chain). I'll stick with the western and the Teryaki burger is awesome.

Yeah, Griffin, not really. Why the hell would you post your lame ass site on here?

back on topic, this burger sounded and looked soo good, but it was 1/5 stars imo.

I'm so bummed about all the bad reviews because I am in love with the idea of being in love with this yummy sounding burger. Of course, I'll give it a try, but I've been warned.

Your blog is fun, too!

I tried this burger today and was totally disappointed. my favorites are the guacamole burger and the chicken bacon ranch on sourdough.

I just had the Prime Rib Six Dollar Burger (minus the horseradish sauce) for lunch today, and I absolutely loved it. The prime rib was marinated in something-or-other that really added to the taste. I'm a little surprised by the bad reviews it's received on this site. Maybe the Carl's Jr. where I ate (Tempe, AZ, across from the Arizona Mills shopping mall) cooks it differently or something, but I'll probably get it again.

I tried it tonight and it was horrible.
You bit into it expect some kind of taste all I could taste is horseradish no meat cheese or onion taste.
The best part of this burger is I feel like its going through me at a record pace..

I learned my lesson

WOW! I have no idea what you are talking about.
I guess you had no taste that day because this burger is really good. Oh yeah, and wait til Carl's Jr. gets their new fries......

Griffin's site was very good I thought and gave me the info I needed about Carl's new sandwich. I was going to try it today but after all these reviews, I'm going to pass.

i thought the prime rib burger was absoulutely delicious will be going back for more

Posted by: tristan at June 30, 2008 11:27 AM

Dude, I just had that burger. I really loved it. It was juicy (I think they drizzled the prime rib slices with Au jus). It was like an orgy in my mouth.

Posted by: Jason at June 30, 2008 6:06 PM

I just had it tonight. it was not so bad but definitely not as good as the Bacon Western Cheeseburger.

I'm amazed that these guys don't get sued for killing people. This burger has 2940mg of sodium and 70 grams of fat. That is 1.5 TIMES THE SODIUM INTAKE in a DAY for a human! It's a crime. I'm surprised it has no flavor, it should at least be overly salty.

Posted by: Craig at July 8, 2008 1:39 AM

Had this burger not too long ago, and I have to disagree with the naysayers for the most part. It's basically a french dip that already has the horseradish and au jus on it with a burger patty and cheese thrown on for good measure. I liked this burger, but the saltiness prevents me from going back too soon, and I do agree that there was a limited onion flavor.

I'd give it a 2.5/5 or 3/5.

I just wanted to comment because I found a lot of comments about the burger being 'juicey', but I wanted to add that to me, this came off much more as greasy. There doesn't seem to be much flavor to this grease, it's just grease to me, not Au jus. In fact, the only taste the entire burger seems to have is horseradish sauce. I know I don't like horseradish sauce so i'm a bit impartial (ordered without, was given it anyway), but I would expect to at least be able to taste some other factor of the burger aside from the horseradish sauce and greasy bread.

I don't know what Carl's you guys are eating at, but I had one today and it was delicious. The bread wasn't soggy or greasy, there was taste to the prime rib and the horseradish made it semi-spicy

I had the single Prime Rib burger, not the $6 version, but I wasn't overly impressed. It needed more flavor from the onions or horseradishnot much on there). The prime rib just tasted like roast beef to me, nothing special. I wouldn't buy it again. I also had the natural cut fries and didn't really care for them. Jack in the Box and Wendy's fries are better.

I am eating one at this moment. It's okay. Kind of flat. The regular $6 burger is better. I have no interest in having one of these again. The fries were yummy though.

I am eating one now and it is great, I think the burger might differ from each location. Its juicy and great, the bread is strong enough to stand up to the au jus a regular bun would get soggy. I give it a 4 out of 5.

Posted by: adellpeach at July 17, 2008 11:04 AM

Good tasting but that is the only positive thing I can say. I know it's hard to recreate those food ad photos, but please try. This burger is not even close to how it is depicted. I ordered one at another location to see if it was better and it wasn't. You get next to no onions and can't see the patty unless you open the burger up. I will not order it again.

Me so hungry. MMMMMMMmmmmmm.

I loved this burger! I am almost 9 months pregnant, my husband stopped to get me one on his way home from work and they said they are no longer making the Prime Rib Burger!! WHAT!? I was so upset I started crying.... damn hormones, damn Carl's Jr!

Posted by: Jenn at July 25, 2008 2:16 AM

Whenever I go to Carl's Jr I get the Same thing..Grilled Chicken BLT..yummmmmyyyyy..I have wanted to try the new Prime Rib Burger..but don't want to waste my money one something I wouldn't like glad i read the reviews here thanks for your posts...Just an FYI My Son loves the jalapeno chicken sandwich...

Posted by: Mari at August 6, 2008 11:12 PM

Why would get yours without cheese?

Posted by: Teddy at August 26, 2008 9:08 AM

I just had it today and it sucked... I was sooo disgusted, I can still feel it in my mouth

Posted by: vuni at September 7, 2008 8:04 PM

I am sooooo stunned right this moment. I just had the unfortunate experience of eating a prime rib 6 dollar burger. When I opened the wrapper I thought, "This is what I get for 15 bucks!!!" I had purchased 2 of the standard value meals, one for me and one for my husband. I can not conceive the fact that Carl's Jr. even has the audacity to call this a 6 dollar burger...maybe a 2 dollar burger would be more appropriate. The patty was so thin that it looked like it was from a child's meal. The onions were non existent. The ciabatta well...was a dry, crunchy, ciabatta. Why ruin the potential for a sandwich even before it has the opportunity to be good? Just give it a bun and call it a day. Every time I decide to give them another try with their crazy concoctions I end up feeling sick and disgusted, just as I do now. I think at this point I will just avoid every location and opt for a more reliable food source.

The Prime rib burger looks, gnarly. I will pass
I really like the Superstar, and 6 mil burger(both w/o cheese) The sides at Carl's r usually dry, and tasteless. The shakes r quite delicious

Teriyaki Burger: EXCELLENT!

Prime Rib Burger: GROSS.

Posted by: Joy at October 14, 2008 1:18 PM

I got mine without the meat patty, I didn't think the prime rib with the beef would be good...and I thought it was sort of an odd idea. A hambuger with basically roast beef on top? Anyway, even without the hamburger part it wasn't very good. I don't think I even ate all of mine. Carl's Junior comes up with some bizarre things.

While stationed in Egypt, we used to fly into Israel, and stopped at a resturaunt called Boya. They made a Prime Rib hamburger that eclipsed any burger that I've ever eaten. The only bad part was that I had to ask for cheese on the side (Israeli kosher laws), but it was the juciest burger I've ever had
