Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Crackers

maccrackers.jpg
I did a double-take in the supermarket when I saw Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Crackers on the shelf. My first thought was “wow, that’s a big box of mac & cheese.” When I realized that it was actually a box of crackers, my next thought was “whose stupid idea was this?” Nevertheless, I was intrigued and bought a box. The cheese-flavored crackers are – big surprise – shaped like elbow macaroni. Wow, it must have been really difficult coming up with that idea. Eating them does not really remind me of eating Kraft macaroni & cheese, although the cheese flavor is slightly reminiscent of the childhood favorite. Their cheese flavor is a bit different than other cheese crackers on the market, but it doesn’t do much for me. It’s too one-dimensional (and that dimension is cheddar) and boring. The crackers may be great for little children because of their small size and softly rounded edges, but I think they are too small for adult fingers. With all the other great cheese crackers in the supermarket shelves, I don’t think there is a good reason to buy Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Crackers – perhaps unless you are buying them for your toddler.

I saw these at the store the other night, too. They were not on sale and I thought rather expensive. It just does not sound appealing to me. I agree that these will appeal to kids in a big way.

I saw these and almost bought them (mostly for my daughter), but stopped myself. I decided they would probably be too artificial-cheesy like the actual Kraft macaroni and cheese. My daughter would probably like them, but she loves cheez-its so much, I figured she might not.

I was also intrigued when I saw them, and picked up a box of the mild cheddar. I nibbled at one or two and was not immediately wowed. So I took on my Cheezit strategy, and popped a handful in my mouth. Soon after my mouth exploded with what was unmistakeably Kraft Mac & Cheese. All the way down to the slight butter/margarine flavor.

I will buy these suckers again!

Btw.. Why do Cheezits suck so hard now? Was it a trans-fat removal thing? They just seem to have no bite.

HA! I was taken back for a minute as well when I saw these! I thought it was mac and cheese that had cracker crumbs that you sprinkle on top.

Exactly how many dimensions do you need in a cheese cracker?

You may think they're tasty, but did you notice the MSG (monosodium glutamate)in the ingredients?

Do you really want your toddlers eating that?

These crackers was the worst things i ever tasted. They tasted like what cheese flavered dog treats smell like. My 1yr old niece and 7yr old nephew both tasted them and spit them out. My parents also hated them. I ended up taking the horid things back to the store and got my money back. How on earth can anyone stand the things they taste neither like the aweful macaroni in the blue box nor do they taste like cheese its or cheese nips . No dog food covers it.

I just bought a box the other day, and I'm finally trying them. And man, am I impressed.. It's like a cross between kraft's easy mac and Stauffer's whales. The only real complaint I have is that they are a little too small, but there are over 320 pieces in a box according to the nutrition facts..

These taste nothing like Kraft Mac & Cheese, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but the branding doesn't make sense to me. They taste like a cross between goldfish and cheezits, which is not bad, but it's nothing to get excited about.

And I'm glad someone above mentioned Stauffer's Whales - they are still my favorite cheesy salter snack cracker. Man, they're good.

My DD loved Kraft Mac & Cheese as a kid. I bought these Cracker's today myself. They taste just like Cheezits. NO Mac in these Cheese Crackers ... Nada. They are shaped sorta like the noodle but other than that ..they are a Cheezit :(

I have tried the cheddar and white cheddar ones; the white cheddar taste is more complex and tastier, the plain cheddar taste like boring ol' cheezit/Cheesenips. However the white cheddar crackers are somewhat "softer", which explains why half my box was reduced to cracker dust. The plain cheddar cracker held their elbow shape. I still prefer the white cheddar, I'll just have to eat it with a spoon in the future.

The crackers taste too browned to me, almost a burned taste

Posted by: Goober at September 26, 2009 5:27 PM

I thought I had stumbled on a neat snack, although not a new idea. In the beginning, the cheddar snacks were delicious. Then I came upon a box that seemed to have no powdery cheese on them and they also seemed to have sort of a burned or "overdone" taste to them but I chalked it up to a fluke. So I continued to buy the snacks only to learn that those "less than superior" snacks were happening more often than just an occasional mistake. My family encouraged me to write this as I never bothered to complain about any product ever before. I was shocked to find out that I am only entitled to one rebate-and at that, I paid more at the store than Kraft is willing to reimburse me for. I've been the sucker so far but needless to say, I will no longer buy this product. I thought Kraft would stand behind their products, and certainly honor their own satisfaction guarantee but I guess the joke is on me.

My daughter and I love the cheddar kraft mac and cheese crackers. Do not get the mild cheddar there is no flavor at all. I am not crazy about the White Cheddar either. I go to Wal-Mart to buy them where they are only $1. I buy them because they are cheaper and taste just as great as cheez-its.

My friend in a nursing home bought them once and loved them so asked me to get some for her. The gentleman who delivers all of these crackers, etc, was there at the store and said they are no longer being sold.
