Tootsie Pop Drops

popdrops.jpgInteresting trivia from the Tootsie Roll web site: Tootsie Roll Pops have been around since 1931 and were the first lollipop with a soft, chewy center. They are also the number one selling lollipop. Tootsie Pop Drops are marketed as a Tootsie Roll Pop without the stick. That’s not exactly true, as the Pop Drops are more cylindrical shaped and smaller than a Tootsie Roll Pop. Otherwise, the flavor is pretty much the same. However, I am very disappointed to report that consumers are mislead by the image on the wrapper, which appears to depict a Drop Pop composed mostly of Tootsie Roll center, with a thin coating of hard candy. In reality, the Pop Drop is mostly hard candy with a very small amount of Tootsie Roll in the center. The center is the best part of the candy, in my opinion, and there’s not much of it in there. This, added with the deceptiveness on the wrapper, makes it hard for me to recommend Tootsie Pop Drops.

I have a very strong desire to run out and buy every box of these suculant and devine candys called Tootsie Pop Drops. They are one of very few hard candies that do not splinter and cut your mouth and they are the most delicious candies in the world!!!!!!!

I love the Tootsie pop drops!

I remember these from when I was a kid...they were a little bigger then, and individually wrapped.

I would prefer that they still be individually wrapped, so I can leave them out in a dish to share with family / friends / coworkers at work. I would buy more of them if that was the case.

If the poster from April 5, 2008 wants more tootsie in their tootsie pop drops, then they should buy some regular tootsie rolls and pop one in the mouth along with a tootsie pop drop.
*wink*

A little extra tootsie is a good thing!

Anyone know where I can buy some of these, not counting on the internet? I've been looking around in just about every little store i go to and can't find them!

I live in Brooklyn, NY and cannot locate a store that carries Tootie Roll drops. I have been in CVS, Duane Reed,Walgreen and Rite Aid. Do you have any suggestions/

I like these however, the inside of the packets stuck to the candy. They may have gotten hot(but not in car or sun as I live in texas but the flavor is great once you got the paper off them. Think the packaging should be something that does not stick to the candy. The Pops have never stuck to the papter even if they get hot.
