Popchips Barbeque Potato Chips

popchips.jpgI have never noticed Popchips in my local supermarket, probably because I generally stick with my favorite brands of potato and tortilla chips and don’t deviate very often. Popchips was nice enough to send me three different varieties to try recently (they currently make nine different products, including rice and corn chips). The chips are different than most in that they are not fried or baked, instead heat and pressure are applied to “pop” the chip. Of the three varieties I tried, the Barbeque Potato Chips were my favorite. They have a very pleasant, sweet barbeque flavor and a nice, light crunch. The single serving bag didn’t take me long to eat and I wished I would have had another couple bags to snack on. I wasn’t sold on the other varieties I tried. The Original Potato Chips reminded me a lot of Munchos in both the texture and flavor. They could have used more salt, in my opinion. The Cheddar Corn Chips were my least favorite. They had a very mild cheese flavor and the texture was similar to a stale rice cake – not appealing. The Barbeque chips, however, are definitely worth trying.

Phoood rating: Outstanding!
