Fritos Lime & Chile Corn Chips

fritoslime.jpgI’m not sure if Fritos Lime & Chile Corn Chips are available everywhere, as I think the product is targeted mainly at Hispanic customers. I’ve seen them here in Northern California for a while, and finally bought a bag to try. They have a very unique taste that I suspect won’t appeal to everyone. The chips have a very strong lime flavor and a little bit of heat from the chile flavoring. Personally, I think the lime flavor is a little too strong and the chile flavor could be more pronounced. Nonetheless, I like the chips and recommend them to those of you who like corn chips and want to try something a little different than usual.

I live in Missouri and we don't have those here, however while I was out on the left coast, in Arizona,I tried them and they are so good. I also really liked the Hot cheetos with lime.

I love 'em too as a mexican american. I also really enjoy the chili cheese flavor of fritos. The original recipe was bought from a man who sold his home meade "fritos" at the corner store in the barrio in San Antonio in the 30's. I am very sorry to hear that they are not available everywhere, but if you feel so inclined you can look for a product called Maseca. You add water and roll out the dough, cut into strips, then fry in oil of your choice, and season as you like.

I am also hooked one the Lime and Chile Fritos and turned my 92 year old Grams on to them and she loves them too.
Now they have disappeared from the stores in both of our areas... what's going on?

I was addicted to those before I moved from Arizona. I now live in Minnesota which has nothing for really good fruit and vegies, but thats a different matter. I have searched high and low and even asked the locals who just look at me surprised that they even exist in the world.

Awesome chips! I bought some when I was in Mexico and now I can't find them anywhere. At least now I know that the American version is available somewhere in the states...
