Carl’s Jr. Breakfast Burger

breakfastburger.jpgThe Breakfast Burger from Carl’s Jr. has been out for a few months now, and I finally tried one last week. It has received a lot of press, mainly because it has 830 calories and 46 grams of fat. The Breakfast Burger is made with a fried egg, bacon, hash brown nuggets, cheese, ketchup, and a hamburger patty, all on a sesame-seed bun. The combination of all these items works well, with the exception of the hash brown nuggets. They don’t really add much to the flavor and kept falling out of the bun. The Breakfast Burger wasn’t quite as tasty as I hoped it would be, but was pretty good. Personally, I think it would taste better with a sausage patty instead of a hamburger patty. Nevertheless, it is a good choice if you have a big appetite and aren’t scared off by the calories and fat.

You are dead wrong, pal. Dead wrong. This thing hits the spot, and the hashbrown nuggets merely accentuate what is already a menagerie of delightful tastes packed into one meaty sandwich. Speaking of meat, how on earth can you deny the passion of the hamburger patty packed in? Without this, it's just another breakfast sandwich. The only thing I could consider doing to spice this up, is possibly adding some BBQ sauce. I'm not sure on this one though. It might already be perfection

It was my first time having this burger, and it was yummy! The extra hour at the gym is totally worth it.

I wouldn't change a thing, the hashbrows are delicious.

This is the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had from a fast food place, ever!

I tried it one morning and found it a good change for the typical egg McMuffin type breakfast sandwich. I felt that it would likely shorten my lifespan significantly and my HMO would drop me if they only knew what I was putting into my body.

Mmm... this burger looks great!!! Too bad I live in N.Z. and can't try one...

No WAY!!! No Ketchup add BBQ sauce and this will always be the #1 burger, if they sold it all day i would have it for dinner. This is an excellent burger. The hashbrowns actually keep it a moist burger, no drink required during the entire meal. Greatest fast food burger ever.

It took 40 years for me to relize burgers are my favorite food overall. This one scared me a bit at first because I'm very fussy about eggs and I'd certainly never had them on a burger before - but from the first bite, those fears subsided and have yet to return. Breakfast is supposed to be the biggest meal of the day, and most fast food breakfast sandwiches don't cut it - this one does. The combination of flavors is amazing. As for the calorie and fat content, hey, we're all going to be the remains of the day eventually - worrying about what's going to get you in the end doesn't change anything. Besides, look how often the FDA changes its mind. Something ins good for you, then it's not, then it's back to being good for you. Enough, already! This burger is a good way to start enjoying every bite of life.

Ya, this breakfast burger is the best breakfast thing out there anywhere...it taste soooo good...the charbroiled burger tops it off...most of the other breakfast items meats are thin sliced ham or bacon, but this is a regular hamburger that adds all the taste. Will they make a 6 dollar breakfast burger?...i got the meal once and it came with a side of hashbrowns...which i didn't eat, because i was already full from the sandwitch. It could use some spices, or a sweet sauce, something that compliments the hashbrowns, egg and hamburger patty...maybe like a ketchup-mustard sauce??
then...maybe not. It's as good as it get in the fast food breakfast arena.

this breakfast burger is something from heaven! my only complaint is that its only sold during breakfast!!! why cant they be like jack in the crack and serve breakfast 24/7 its not like they have some huge breakfast selection like mc ds, is it too much to ask?

This breakfast marvel is awesome, fills me up just right in the morning. Being pregnant you just don't really know what you want sometimes...this breakfast burger hits the spot every time. I love the hash brown bites in it! No other fast food chain puts hash brown bites into thier morning sandwiches. Everything on the Carl's Jr. menu is fantastic. But often Carl's Jr. is overlooked which I think is a shame. That place makes me and my baby very happy!!

Oh, my Holy Land... This thing is amazing. AMAZING. And pure genious. SO GOOD SO GOOD... The only thing I'd say is that if you want to intensify the awsomeness, go for extra ketchup. Yes. Definately. Pure deliciousness.

Had one of these burgers this morning, and I must say... it sucks. If you're starved for protein, then perhaps this is mound of meat is OK to consume, otherwise I would stay away from it. Healthy? Not even remotely. This burger is a perfect example of the stupid attitude that most of us Americans have that we must consume mass amounts of meat with every meal.

A sausage patty instead of a burger patty is the one thing I would change for sure.

Posted by: pakbehl at October 28, 2009 3:53 PM

this buger has bacon and a patty... two pieces of meat. you aren't shoveling meat down your throat haha. anyways, this burger is worth every penny.

A major failure of Carl's breakfast is their eggs. Commercial and pictures show os a a mound of neatly folded fluffy egg. What we actually get is paper thin flap of yellow that is overpowered in the sandwich. Strike one. Too much bread versus not enough egg potato ketchup. Strike two and three. In summary, they need a smaller bun, 2 more hashbrowns, more substatial egg, and ketchup that is placed on the potatoes instead of the bun, to avoid being soaked into a pasty bready goo.... Carl's Jr strikes out on a GREAT idea that is poorly executed.
