Widmer Drop Top Amber Ale
My sister lives in Portland, Oregon. Having visited her many times, I have become familiar with many of the breweries in Portland and other cities in Oregon. One of the many fabulous breweries in Portland is Widmer Brothers, which makes Drop Top Amber Ale. I recently had a pint of Drop Top for the first time in a bar here in Sacramento and found it to be very good. The Widmer Web site tells us that the beer’s “velvet texture is from the use of honey malt and a touch of milk sugar. The Magnum bittering hops provide soft bitterness, while Simcoe, a newly developed hop variety, adds unique hop flavor and aroma.” Whatever they put in it, it sure tastes good. I’m often in the mood for dark, heavy stout beer. When I’m in the mood for something a little bit lighter and easier to drink, Drop Top Amber Ale is a great choice.

Hey. I'm not sure if you will get a notification of my comment since you posted 4 years ago!....but...I'm in search of a place I can buy this beer and have it sent to me. I don't think I can do that through the brewery if I remember correctly b/c I have been trying to figure this out on and off for a year now and just could not locate a place/way to get it in Atlanta. I know I even called some distributors of Widmer beer...but none had Drop Top Amber Ale. My Husband visited Portland, drank this beer, and has been raving about it and wanting to get it for a year and our anniversary is next Tuesday and I'd love to surprise him with some on the way! Any help you can provide would be incredible! Thanks! Elaine
