Mountain Dew Pitch Black
Mountain Dew Pitch Black is another attempt by soda pop makers to take an existing product and tweak it a little bit to come up with something new. Often, their attempts only create mediocre products. In this case, Mountain Dew has pulled it off. Pitch Black, which is made with black grape and other flavors, is very tasty. It has a great grape/berry flavor that is very refreshing and easy to drink. And, unlike some other new soda pops I have tried recently, the flavor is full and bold. The bottle indicates that it is a “limited edition,” which is a shame. Mountain Dew Pitch Black is good enough to permanently share the shelf with the other Mountain Dew flavors.

Posted by: donna at September 18, 2004 11:04 PMI was hoping for something that tasted like welch's grape soda, but had the caffeine of mtn dew. In my mind, that would be the ultimate soda. It certainly had the caffeine, but the flavor, while ok, wasn't as good as I was hoping for.

Dew pitch black is ok but is can not supase the Mountain dew (normal) so that is all i have to say

Then in May I ran across 20 oz bottles in the cooler at a Dollar General Store. I told them I didn't know how they got it, but I would buy all that they had. I got 24 bottles and the manager said it was still on her order list and did I want more? I said sure and she ordered me another two cases before it was discontinued. At least I have a supply that I'm rationing through the summer. It doesn't look like Pepsi is going to make it this year. They've already given up www.pitchblack.com url to the movie studio for the Pitch Black movie.

Did your drink mix well with wine or vodka the original did. But as of Sept.3 I would not give you 2cents for a truck full of it. I do not know what has happened to the formula but it has changed and not for the better. Let me know if I am the only one who has found this new taste this bad.

In fact its the only kind of dew I can "do" but its not something I can call my favorite soda, nor can I by it by the 12 packs.
Its one of those things that is good once in a while...
Crazyfor Pitch Black last year.This years PBII is even greater.Seems as though there is ahint of muscadine.Whatever it is,we love it.Stripped all stores in our area in notime.Please,bring it back!Its along time between Halloweens.WE WANT PITCH!WE WANT PITCH>come on Pepsi.You got a good thing here. !!!!!!!!!

If I remember correctly, didn't Live Wire and Code Red also start out as limited edition, yet started selling as regular products? Why not with Pitch Black? Where I live, Pitch Black outsold even the regular, green Mountain Dew...seems like a company would want to keep selling something that did so well! I recommend that all lovers of Pitch Black inundate the Pepsi Company with phone calls, demanding that they bring back the Black! The phone number is on Mountain Dew bottles...CALL THEM!!!!!
My bro drank my last original Pitch Black today. Anyone know where I can find it online? Or better yet, do you have some I could buy off of you?

I just finished off my last 2 liter bottle of Mountain Dew Pitch Black, and YES I'm addicted to it. I have to agree, it's good enough, if not better then the Green Dew, so why not sell it year round? Would make us 'addicts' quit whinning about it, and satisfy us and Pepsi's wallet at the same time!

Pitch Black was the best soda I've tasted in awhile, such a breathe of fresh air compared to stuff like Vanilla Pepsi, Inside-out Sprite, etc... INCREDIBLE DISAPPOINTMENT for its disappearance.

But also to see if it gets a positive reaction. Due to the high cost of the ingredients it was not feasible to market the drink permanently with only high hopes.
