Carl's Jr. Double Six Dollar Burger

sixdollar.jpgCarl’s Jr’s new burger, the Double Six Dollar Burger, is a full pound of beef with three slices of American cheese. For most people, this much meat and cheese would be hazardous to their health. But to me, it is a challenge that I just couldn’t pass up. With two ½-pound, charbroiled 100% Angus beef patties, the burger was as good as just about any other burger I’ve eaten. The massive patties were cooked just the way I like it (no pink inside…), and seasoned well. The burger was very good, and definitely didn’t taste like any other burger I’ve had from a fast food restaurant. My only gripe was the bun – it was too small for the burger and could have been a higher quality bread. The Double Six Dollar Burger is not the biggest or best hamburger I’ve ever eaten (both awards go to the Quadruple French Ground Steakburger from Nationwide Meats in Sacramento, California), but it ranks up there among the best. If you have a real big appetite, or want to feed a family of four, give it a try.

Phoood rating: Outstanding!

If I wasn't a vegetarian I'd definitely try it. Sounds like quite a nice stack of beef. Does it really cost six bucks?

Just the picture looks good enough to eat! Carls Jr always has been the best fast food place.

Man, this is why I hate not living in the US. All i am supposed to eat is lame Mickey D burger.... Next time i'm there, i'll stop by Carl's JR. It looks great

Don't worry folks, it's not 6.00. It's about eight dollars. Why they call it the six dollar burger I'll never know. It's about 8.50. What a rip off!!!!!!!

OMG, how much meat can you FIT in one burger? But I must say, it DOES look pretty good.

So this is the review that Carl's Jr is now quoting on their drink cups (along with the Orange County Register). I have tried the Six Dollar Burgers a couple of times and found them too slimy; the drippy mess they show in their commercials is all too real, and slimy also tends to mean fat, which I need to avoid as much as I can. Still, I do visit Carl's too regularily. I try to keep to the tinier side of their menu-the famous star (no cheese) and no mayo.

WOW! I would recommed this burger to anyone who is looking to satisfy a craveing. If you like diner style burgers, this is the way to go. I give it an 8.5 out of 10.

Hey, this is the review I was looking for! Saw it today when I (coincidentally) ordered a double 6 and saw it on the cup. cooL!

The six dollar burger is not $8.50. You must have been eating at a Carls Jr. at Disneyland or something.

If you order the large double Six Dollar Burger combo (which could substitute a Thanksgiving dinner) then it might be $8.50, but the burger itself is about $4.50-$5.00

I have never tried the double, way too much even for me - an avid hamburger eater. I have tried the single at it definitely is worth the money.

i dont like the 6 dollar burgers because for me they are way too messy and yes the bun is horrible. ive only tried the guacamole one which is single patty and the bun was ripping so bad i didnt even eat it all. now the western burger regular is perfect!

I dont understand how anybody looks at that burger and thinks "Yeah, I could fit that monstrosity in my mouth and subsequently my stomach." Having said that, its a great burger, if you have that insatiable hunger after working hard labor for 20 hours straight with no food and your stomach is eating your back. But seriously, its hard to eat. You have to pull the "maybe i can squish it into a smaller more compact behemoth" trick.

it looks goood, im rather hungry right now, and i would agree with 'clive the fat' if you havent eat'n in like 20 hrs, then you could eat it... Carl's is bomb...

OMG I love fast food. As I always say the fatter the better and i gotta say im in love with the double six dollar burger. I dont make that much money so i get two of them every pay day. This is why i am the Carls Jr star of the week.

I use to work at Carl's Jr and I had a Six Dollar Burger almost 3 times every week, I've also eaten several Double Six Dollar Burgers.. (a little hard on the wallet and stomach, but -very- satisfying) Sadly I quit because I wasn't making enough money, but i'll never forget working there. Great people, Great food, .. decent prices.

Don't forget it's a double six dollar burger.

The original six dollar burger was... six dollars (3.95, really, I never saw it for any more or any less). Doesn't it make sense to pay a bit more for a double six dollar burger?

i love this thing i could eat so many . ..
last time carls jr had a prmotion where you buy one six dollar burger and you can get another for just a dollar . . . so good

Messy is the best way to go. Messy burgers = good, fatening, artery clogging burgers. Personally, it takes me and my husband to finish off one of these giants. We usually have to skip a meal before eating one so we're really hungry. These things are amazing...but horrible for you....but still good.

Awww, you had to go and remind me about Nationwide Meats! I used to work at 24th & J, so it was always such a strong temptation to go there.

Posted by: BurgerBoy at May 25, 2007 11:07 AM

What's the deal, has Carl's stopped offering its hamburgers at a "no cheese" price? It looks like now you automatically pay for the cheese whether you want it or not!

Look at their menu. The Famous Star (plain) has disappeared! When I order a Famous Star without cheese, I get charged the Famous Star with Cheese price!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Tricky Dicky that one!!!!!!

I love this burger! Carl's Jr. usually makes this burger pretty well too. It's never too sloppy looking or lopsided, whenever I order one.

It tastes great, but the price is slowly creeping up so maybe they need to rename it since the original "cheaper than a $6 restaurant burger" idea isn't holding up too well... When they first came out with this burger, it was supposed to be a bargain, but you can get burgers at say Red Robin for about the same price, AND with bottomless fries.
